Last night my wonderful hubby took me to see Duff Goldman of Ace of Cakes! He was at the JCC in Cherry Hill. He took questions for about an hour and then we were shuffled out to have him sign his new book. It was awesome.

First, I'm ok. Don't think I have meningitis--I think I'm just a mess. Tests came back ok so far, still haven't heard about the thyroid, but I'm not planning on hearing from them too quickly. Afterall, it is a hospital and I am no longer there for them to answer to. They diagnosed it as a 'tension headache' with neck spasms & severe anxiety. I think it's pretty on the nose, honestly. They can't define why I wake up feeling like I'm roasting, but that may be a thyroid issue. Today I'm almost human. Taken no medicine today. My neck is stiff, but I've also just been lounging around, so that may be part of it. A little out of it, but I don't do well with medicine overall, so it's probably just getting out of my system.

Second, Thank you to everyone for expressing concern. Apparently I shook up the immovable rock which is TJ. Sorry honey-Thank you for throwing my butt in an ambulance. (Which, by the way was also terrifying, but the EMT's were nice guys and here rather quickly.)

Third, I think I may have enough strength to hit TJ for posting a picture of me in the hospital.

T & I went down to Cape May today for a Victorian Faire held at the Emlen Physick Estate. Spent 2 hours in the car to be very disappointed in what "victorian cape may" deemed a Victorian Faire. Apparently to them, it means the lamest craft show ever. So, we grabbed some lunch and did a little shopping. Then we checked out the WWII lookout tower they just restored down by Sunset Beach. And we didn't even get rained on...it started out lame, but turned out nice. We were together and that's all that matters in the end.

Thank you all for your words of well wishes for my Tj. You'll be happy to know that he is on the mend, but still very weak. (I may even win if we get into a 'fight'!) He just gets winded very easily and is working his way up to real food.

Unfortunately, he is going to work tomorrow. I'm afraid it will be bad for his weakened condition right now. Hell, it's bad on his system when he's well, but his jack ass of a boss doesn't seem to understand that being very ill and a trip to the hospital will take a lot out of you. I have very many angry words to say to his boss, but will not rant because I know T reads this and it will only get him upset. I'll just say T's boss is a big poo head who needs to learn how to run a business and have some compassion.

So, all in all, he is doing better. I've been doing my nurse-ly duties of feeding him and making sure he drinks, etc., so hopefully I haven't driven him too crazy! Let's just hope that going to work tomorrow doesn't wear him totally out.

Home from the Hospital

We are home from the hospital. T asked me to take him tonight about 7:30. He's been violently ill with either food poisoning and/or the flu since Thursday at 2am. He was pretty out of it yesterday and seemed to be on the mend this morning till he tried to eat a few saltines. He finally decided to take some immodium around 11 am and felt ok by 3. He tells me he got a shower and was too winded to do anything else and went back to sleep. Yesterday he told me he was too sick to stand up. That's when I wanted to take him to the hospital. Well, I wanted to take him to the hospital yesterday morning, but he's a Wilson and they are quite stubborn.

The whole process didn't take quite as long as I expected, but I don't know if that was because T implied that he wanted to go home or if he was really ready to come home. We went in at 7:30, saw a triage nurse by 8, 8:15 we're signing forms to say that we won't sue them, here's my insurance card, sign some more, yadda yadda yadda and at 8:30 we're in the waiting room. This is when I got scared (well, more scared) because his abdomen started to ache. We got him 'reassessed' and then right into a room. He took in one bag of fluids very quickly along with some hospital grade motrin, something for nausea and something else I can't remember. he looked better and i went to get something to eat ('cause t insisted i try to find something since i didn't eat dinner) and when I came back he looked a little worse. the had given him a whole other bag of fluids and now he felt 'full'. He likened it to filling up a water balloon. it must have been an odd sensation. but, there were blood tests taken, etc. and the only thing elevated was his liver enzymes, which our dr, dr chris (he couldn't have been much older than me and t and kept calling T, 'man') said was normal with this bug going around. I think t is still convinced it was the chicken he made himself wednesday night, but it may have just set it off. who knows. but, after we listened to some other patient have a crazy fit complete with 'I don't want anything in me!' screaming, t pretty much asked if he could go home. not in so many words, but in enough that Dr. Chris got the picture, had his boss The Dr. Dr.--Dr. Chris was a resident) check him out, and got him released around 11:30. Now he's upstairs asleep and hopefully warmer than he was in the hospital. he was shaking so bad from the cold iv fluids. it was sad. hopefully we can get through this and get him back on his feet. i'm tired and should also go to bed. it will be another long day tomorrow.
So, moral of the story kids--stay away from anyone who may be some sort of sick, get plenty of rest, pump yourself up on vitamins and for god's sake, if you unfortunately get sick, Drink! Dehydration sucks.

Christmas

We had a very nice Christmas this year. We both had the same time off from work and got to spend it with our families. We spent Christmas eve with T's parents and Pop like we usually do. We had a nice dinner and then went over to his Aunt Colleen's place to visit with her, her daughter Cassidy and T's pop. Pop is doing better overall. I was happy that T's dad didn't rush us like he usually does and we spend a good 2 hours there talking with Pop, playing with Cassidy (she's 3, very adorable and knows it!) and watching T's dad put together a Little People castle. Quite amusing.

Christmas morning came very early to the tune of 6 am to put a ham in the oven for dinner at 1. What was I thinking when I said we'd cook the ham?! It came out very well, we made our own citrus glaze and it was yummy. Santa was good to me this year! I got a brand new 14 mega pixel camera!! It's so fun! I think my hubby had something to do with Santa's choice! Oh, and I forgot to mention, that it was hidden inside 6 boxes, all taped with packing tape vertically and horizontally so that it was impossible to get into. He watched me struggle with the first box for about 10 minutes before I got a knife to hack through all the tape. It was great. :-p T got violin lessons, my beginner theory book for helping with music theory, and Batman, the dark knight. I think I may have been more excited about that than he was! Then we went to my Grammy & Big Dad's house to celebrate with them, my uncle & cousins. It was low key, thank God. My uncle is quite the instigator sometimes and it's annoying. Then we spent the rest of the evening with my parents, brother and his girlfriend.

The day after Christmas was a waiting game. It always is when T's Sis & family come up from VA. They were supposed to be in at 2, then it was 4 and then it was 6. To say the least, Erin was more than stressed by the time she walked through the door. We had a delicious dinner, turkey and stuffing that is really good, but not as good as TJ's and the girls (our 2 nieces) were being so good and waiting to open their presents. Then, Erin realizes that she packed everyone's suitcases and left just HERS at home... this is when the CRAZY kicks in... she made it through presents with the girls till T's mom gave Jill (the 2 year old) a keyboard and microphone that she can play and sing into WITH NO VOLUME CONTROL!!! We all wanted to hurt her right about now. So, we get through that with laughter and then while we're cleaning up the metric ton of wrapping paper and other toy packaging (thank you amy & houser for all of your wonderful twisty tie things!) and T's mom announces that it's time for the annual happy normal family photo in front of the Christmas tree...LET THE MELTDOWN BEGIN... Erin flies into a rant about how she doesn't feel good and she left her whole suitcase in VA and that she's losing her mind and has altimers and pretty soon we're going to have to put her in a home where we'll probably catch her licking windows (???) and she went on and on and on. A wailing 20 minute fit that after the first 2 minutes, we were all trying not to laugh in her face. it was a shame and FREAKIN' hysterical all at the same time... It was a little scary, but it ends up that it was just the straw that broke the camel's back and it was a culmination of a bunch of little things piling up. It was a shame, but really funny. (I'm going to hell.) then after the happy family photo, she and i went to kohls to get her clothes for the next 4 days. all ended well...

Saturday was spent with T bonding with his family by blowing paper up and I tidied up the house. Then we spent the evening with the Lovely Rosenwald's and their darling little boy. He's just too cute!!!

And the crowning achievement of today...I watched Miracle on 34th Street. I've never seen it. Nor have I seen White Christmas until this year either. I liked Miracle on 34th. It makes you all warm inside.

And it's Dublin's Birthday! She's 5! We got her a motion night light for the hallway. She was very excited. (haha!)

Dear Air Conditioner...

Can you guess what this is?

Those bits are what's left of a wire that was burning in our air conditioner today. It was attached to this:

Around 3 today I noticed that the thermostat said 80 in here. I went outside and the unit isn't running. T checked the breaker in the garage and it was tripped. Odd to begin with since it usually trips outside and blows a fuse before it gets in the house. So, he put that back to the on position and it kicked on. We went about making lunch and noticed it wasn't getting any cooler. So, I called my dad (good thing he knows air conditioners!) and he had me put a thermometer in the vent. It read 78. So, he jumped in his handy truck and came on down to check it out. That's when he found the burning capacitor.

Now, the irony of it all is that we have a BRAND NEW Air conditioner and heater unit in the garage waiting to be installed by my dad and uncle. They are just waiting for it to get a little cooler so we don't pass out from the heat of not having air. Grr. it's like the old air conditioner knows.

Good news is our house didn't burn down 'cause of the air conditioner. Better news will be when the new one is installed and we don't have to worry about things like this. (I've never been good with the whole patience thing...)

So, just thought I'd share our Labor Day afternoon!

Hip Replacement....

My mom had her hip replaced today. So, today's been a nerve racking day. She is at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital and is still in the recovery phase. She probably won't be out for at least another hour or two. I've been waiting by the phone all day for updates from my dad and grammy. I'm hoping that this will fix all the issues my mom has had for the past 5-7 years and that she'll be back up to par soon. We're hoping to bring her home on Sunday, but it may be Monday. That starts 6 weeks of recovery time. Good thing we still live close and my brother still lives at home to help out my dad.
Thanks for listening...it's tough to try not to bother your hubby at work and when you kitty doesn't talk back for support.

Vacation Ideas?

Anyone have any good vacation ideas or been anywhere fun/relaxing that they can recommend?

We have a couple times this summer where we will have about 3-4 days off in a row and for the life of me, I can't think of anywhere to go that is:

A) somewhere we haven't been before
B) relatively close, since we only have a couple days and
C) Cheap...'cause we are lacking in extra funds right now.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Craft Show Day

So, today was craft show day, to end the week of craft show hell. I thought a hobby was supposed to be relaxing?! Anyhow, I was up at 6 am (I don't even get up that early for work!) and was at the high school by 7, set up by 8:30. Doors opened to the public at 9. The show went till 4, but after 1pm I only made 1 or 2 sales. I did get 3 orders and had repeat customers from last year, which is nice to know that people look for me like I look for certain crafters each year. So, all in all it went well. I was pretty calm through most of the day, which is a change. I'm usually not a very calm person with so many people around me...I guess I'm getting better at it! ;-)

I had help from my mom, grammy, and tj's mom all day, as well as my dad who is pretty much the 'lifting' guy who brings in the big folding table. I'm glad my family is so willing to help and put up with the craziness leading up to the craft show, during and after the show. I'm a lucky girl to have good family like that. My sis in law even just called to see how it all went and I know she would have been there if she wasn't in Virginia. Anyhow, so I got a few extra dollars in the door towards my hubby's Christmas presents as well as everyone else's, but I think after my next show on December 8th, that is going to be all for awhile. It's a lot of stress, time and running around. And I miss so much with friends and family during that time. This year alone, I'm missing a very important First Birthday party for my little buddy Taylor, as well as a couple other important events that I should be attending with T and other various friends and family. OH...and I totally forgot that Thanksgiving is THIS WEEK!!! It wouldn't be that big of a deal, but WE'RE COOKING!!! So, yeah...I miss a lot of important events and go apparently lose my mind too. I think I'll take a year off and just take orders from family, friends, repeat customers and through work.

What really put a bad taste in my mouth is that this show I did today DEMANDED a donation item with a 'retail value of $25' I'm NOT kidding... So, not only did they change the meaning of the word 'donation' they apparently are just that greedy to ask for a good amount of money for the table as well as a mandatory donation... whatever...I take pride in that my donation item was NOT a retail value of $25, but of about $8. And guess what their big 'Thank You for your donation' was....oh come on just guess....ok, i'll tell you.... A CUP OF COFFEE.. I don't drink coffee. I made them give me tea. And let me tell you... that was some cup of tea. For the Tetley tea bag that it cost them, I could have bought enough tea for the rest of my life with the cost that I spent on the table. (ok, I'm exaggerating, but it would have been a lot of tea bags...)

So, I am just rambling now, 'cause it's late and I've been up for about 17 hours now.

Did I ever tell you all how much I freakin' HATE crickets?!?!?!

OK...It's one thing to listen to them outside on a nice summer night and enjoy their little chirpy asses, but it's another when they decide that they want to be in your house.

I am friggin' tired of killing these disgusting little bastards in my house!!!

No amount of 'Home Defense' bug spray seems to work and I can only spray it in so many places 'cause otherwise, Dublin might get hurt by the spray.

I am not willing to share my house with these disgusting, ugly, dirty bugs.

I just wanted to personally thank those who came out for our 'Safe Moving' tonight. All went relatively well, with the exception of the sacrifice of Andy's pants...but, hey if that is all that was sacrificed moving a 600 pound safe, I'll fix the pants!!!
Seriously, I wanted to thank everyone very much and I truly do appreciate that you took time out of your schedules to come help us out. It means a lot to us.
